Another common theme is a window that is broken by an errant baseball. Cartoons may feature a villain who breaks into a building by silently cutting a circle of glass from a window.
Windows also feature frequently in maxims and proverbs. Examples include "The eyes are the windows to the soul" and "When one door closes, open a window."

Step-by-Step Instructions for Drawing a Window
How to Draw a Great Looking Window for Kids, Beginners, and Adults - Step 1
1. Begin by drawing a smaller rectangle within a larger rectangle. This outlines the frame of the window.

2. Draw straight, vertical, parallel lines across the center of the window. Draw another set of straight, parallel lines horizontally. The lines should cross at a perpendicular angle, creating the window's inner frame.

3. Draw a pair of straight, horizontal, parallel lines above the window. They should extend slightly beyond its edges. Draw a small oval to enclose each end. This forms a curtain rod above the window. Then, erase overlapping lines from the center of the window frame.

4. Use a series of wavy curved lines to enclose a roughly rectangular shape overlapping the curtain rod. This forms the curtain or valance. The, use a wavy line to enclose a narrower, roughly rectangular shape above the first. This forms the ruffle at the top of the curtain.

5. Erase overlapping lines from the valance. Then, use a series of curved lines to draw the first of the curtains. Note how the lines converge in the middle in an hourglass-like shape. Connect them at the bottom using a wavy line.
